If visiting Goodrich then you must visit the castle

Visit this splendid red sandstone Castle, springing from living rock high above an empty moat. Walk along the curtain walls, climb the towers, and peer through arrow slits and murder holes. Well preserved Chapel and Inner Hall. Superb views across the Wye Valley to Symonds Yat. An audio tour brings alive the Castle's turbulent history.
Goodrich Castle, which is one of English Heritage's key attractions with a superb visitor centre opened in 2007 and is only about half a mile away. There are several events throughout the year held at the castle including plays and re-enactments of jousting etc!
Located high above the river Wye, Goodrich Castle was a medieval fortified palace. Built around 1150, the keep is the castle's oldest remaining section. Although unoccupied by the sixteenth century, the castle was still able to withstand a major siege during the English Civil War. The beautiful stained glass window in the chapel was installed by members of the village and school children of the village to celebrate the Millennium. .
